Frequently Asked Questions
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
If possible, Please call before your little one arrives - The sooner the better. A tentative session time will be reserved based on your due date. Since my #1 job is being a mommy to my three fabulous kids, I only schedule a certain number of sessions per week. If you are expecting a new baby, please contact me at least 45-90 days in advance so we can begin planning for your custom photography session.
DO I COME TO YOUR STUDIO?
YES! All studio sessions take place at my studio in Gresham, Oregon. Fresh 48 sessions take place at the hospital. However, On special occaision I do other on-location sessions. Please contact me to discuss any arrangements. *Travel charges apply
DO YOU PROVIDE ALL OF THE CUTE PROPS?
YES! I have a huge selection of props at the studio for you to choose from. You do not need to worry about bringing anything. If you have a request for a certain type of Backdrop/blanket/pose/prop, please ask in advance to make sure I have that set-up ready to go when you get here.
HOW OLD SHOULD MY BABY BE?
Newborns are best photographed between 7-12 days old. For older babies and children I do offer individual sessions and milesone sessions with our grow with me package.
HOW LONG WILL WE BE THERE?
I am infinitely patient when photographing newborns. Plan on being at the studio for 2-4 hours, or longer if I am also photographing mom and dad. Also please be aware that not all poses are possible with every baby.
Feel free to relax While you are at the studio, our clients have brought books, Tablets, thank-you notes to write, or other items to pass the time (many parents watch movies or crash and take a much needed nap ), and occasionally parents drive separate cars to allow grandparents or mom or dad to come and go if needed.
I realize that this is an investment of your time. I always allow plenty of time for feeding and snuggles. I do not rush your baby but instead allow time for him or her to eat as needed, and comforted as necessary as I work to get the best possible images for you and your family. Also, babies tend to eat more during a photoshoot so I recommend bringing extra bottles and/or being prepared to nurse a little more than usual.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE THE SESSION?
The key to newborn photography is a very sleepy newborn - so making sure your baby is well fed (but not overly fed) before the session will be helpful. Wake your baby up about 3 hours before the session and try your hardest to keep baby awake, usually undressing them and moving them around, giving them a bath does the trick. Feed him or her right before you leave so you will arrive with a full, sleepy baby.
WHAT SHOULD MY NEWBORN WEAR FOR THE SESSION?
We provide outfits, wraps, or a diaper cover if needed. Please dress baby in loose - easy to remove clothing or just a blanket and NO SOCKS on the way to the studio. (Socks leave marks around their ankles that are not easily removed when retouching.)
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR TO THE SESSION?
If Mom and Dad are planning on being in some of the images, you should bring solid black or white shirts (preferably knit, 3/4 Sleeve or long sleeved). We ask Mom to bring a white cami/tank as well and dad a white t-shirt for a different set-up if time allows. Parents may also bring an extra set of clothing to change into afterwards. We keep the studio warm (perfect for baby) and you will feel more comfortable in shorts and/or casual wear to hang out in afterwards.
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO BRING?
Bring extra baby blankets and plenty of diapers and baby wipes, accidents will happen! I recommend a pacifier and a bottle, even if you are nursing. They can be effective helpers from time to time when trying to get baby settled back into a pose. I will allow plenty of time for parents to feed -these are not in lieu of mom/Baby time!
My Child isn't feeling well, can I reschedule?
Children do best in front of the camera when they are rested and feeling well. Please contact me at least 24-48 hours in advance if your child is ill and you won’t be able to attend your scheduled session. Although the retainer fee is not refundable, if your child is sick and we can reschedule your session within 14 days, a new retainer fee is not required.
please review the Studio Policies for additional information that may pertain to your session, payment details, and even more info.
I can't wait to work with you and your beautiful newborn!
Testimonials
"Ambrelee with Peek A Bootique, helped capture the cutest professional photo's of my newborn daughter!
Ambrelee was very patient in the fact I am learning my daughters sleep and feeding patterns and my daughter Caroline was fussy throughout the whole photo shoot. But Ambrelee showed no sign of looking at her clock or getting impatient at all. Instead she waited and helped soothe Caroline till we got the pictures my family and I needed to capture her newborn stage.
I Highly recommend Peek A Bootique for photo's or any of the cute products/ props seen in her shoots, Ambrelee is very patient and professional to work with!"
